Lover's Eye Painting on a Japanese Imari Plate

Lover's Eye miniature paintings were popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries (Georgian and Regency periods), and were frequently incorporated in rings and lockets. This is a larger, modern version in oil, on an antique Japanese Imari heavy porcelain plate with a traditional pattern of cobalt blue and persimmon rust red, with green and brown landscapes; blue underglaze markings on the back. Plate hanger included. 8 1/2".
