An antique, 19th-century leather steamer trunk, with a domed top, geometric designs, and brass hardware. By C. A. Malm, San Francisco. Fabric interior and wood structure. Possibly strapped on to the back of an early car, given the markings. c. 1860s-1890s. 33.5ʺW × 19ʺD × 22ʺH. The marks to the front are possibly due to the exhaust fumes of early motorcars. Some of the leather straps are missing, but the side handles are both there. General wear to the leather, all as shown.
