Lover's Eye miniature paintings were popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries (Georgian and Regency periods), and were frequently incorporated in rings and lockets. This is a larger, modern version in oil, on an antique, 19th-century English flow blue crescent or paisley dish, with cobalt blue underglaze designs and gilt embellishments.
