A vintage French porcelain powder box in a deep blue with hand-painted gilt border, and the royal crest of Francois I's wife, Claude de Bretagne, with its crown and ermine; underwritten with Langeais (one of the Loire Valley chateaux). Marked in gilt J P and "France" with a castle on the bottom (Jean Pouyat, Limoges). There is a rim chip to the underside of the lid and to the top of the box, followed by a 3/4" hairline. 3 1/2" by 2 1/4".
