"Claudette Turned Her Horse and Rode in the Opposite Direction"
Portrait of a Claudette in oils on an antique round serving plate with handles; late 19th-century, French Limoges porcelain, with a border of green ivy vines and gilt details; 10.25"x9.5"x1.2".
THE STORY: Inspired by literature, my portraits have novelistic titles that hint at the adventures of their heroines.
THE CHINA: Many of my paintings are set in antique saucers and dishes which not only work as unexpected frames but add a layer of historical narrative on top of the origin story. Each piece has a unique blend, so that some are more romantic, some more exotic, and some more otherworldly.
