SYLPHE - LE MUSÉE DE L’IMAGINAIRE
This is a Sylphe, an elusive and elemental mythical air spirit, dancing in the breeze.
Step inside the Musée de l’Imaginaire, where dancers in their jaunty baroque splendor whirl once more in dreamlike color. Located on the rue des Rêves Impossibles and open every day and especially on holidays, this very special museum is a place where history comes alive, fêtes never end, and your most impossible dreams come true.
Inspired by the extravagant court ballets of Louis XIV and the enchanted spectacles that followed, these prints reimagine the elegance of 17th- and 18th-century dancers in playful palettes ranging from the wistful and cheerful to the romantic and dramatic.
Designed as exhibition posters from another realm, they recall an historical era when imagination reigned supreme at Versailles: its mirrored halls, parterre gardens, mythic grottoes, and firework spectacles, with the Sun King himself taking center stage. Each poster feels like a secret performance glimpsed between centuries: elegant, otherworldly, and a little bit mischievous.
